A quantum symmetry preserving semiclassical method

چکیده
Symmetry constraints are built into a semiclassical propagation scheme. It is then applied to treat H!Ne2 collisions at 30 K, where quantum selection rules restrict the final rotational states of symmetric Ne2 molecules to the even manifold. The cross sections for state-to-state transitions are calculated for symmetric and nonsymmetric isotopic compositions of Ne2 . All bound and long-lived quasibound !trapped behind the centrifugal barrier" states of Ne2 are considered. This semiclassical method captures symmetry effects and shows satisfactory agreement with the quantum results. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. #DOI: 10.1063/1.1513457$

Quantum Chaos and Random Matrix Theory -some New Results
New insight into the correspondence between Quantum Chaos and Random Matrix Theory is gained by developing a semiclassical theory for the autocor-relation function of spectral determinants. We study in particular the unitary operators which are the quantum versions of area preserving maps. The relevant Random Matrix ensembles are the Circular ensembles. The resulting semiclassical expressions d...
متن کاملLarge N Limit in the Quantum Hall Effect
Carlo A. TRUGENBERGER and Guillermo R. ZEMBA Theory Division, C.E.R.N.** 1211 Geneva 23, Switzerland ABSTRACT The Laughlin states for N interacting electrons at the plateaus of the fractional Hall effect are studied in the thermodynamic limit of large N . It is shown that this limit leads to the semiclassical regime for these states, thereby relating their stability to their semiclassical natur...
متن کاملA semiclassical transport model for two-dimensional thin quantum barriers
We present a two-dimensional time-dependent semiclassical transport model for mixed state scattering with thin quantum films. The stationary Schrödinger equation is solved in the quantum barrier to obtain the scattering coefficients used to supply the interface condition that connects two classical domains. The solution in the classical regions is solved using a particle method and interface co...
متن کاملA Semiclassical Transport Model for Thin Quantum Barriers
We present a one-dimensional time-dependent semiclassical transport model for mixed state scattering with thin quantum barriers. The idea is to solve a stationary Schr6dinger equation in the thin quantum barrier to obtain the scattering coefficients, and then use them to supply the interface condition that connects the two classical domains. We then build in the interface condition to the numer...
متن کاملUse of Harmonic Inversion Techniques in Semiclassical Quantization and Analysis of Quantum Spectra
Harmonic inversion is introduced as a powerful tool for both the analysis of quantum spectra and semiclassical periodic orbit quantization. The method allows to circumvent the uncertainty principle of the conventional Fourier transform and to extract dynamical information from quantum spectra which has been unattainable before, such as bifurcations of orbits, the uncovering of hidden ghost orbi...
